The Bader Cup – Last Regional Final Results. Victory for mother and son team.

THE BADER CUP is now recognised to be Europe’s largest National Mixed Golf Tournament and, thanks to the hard work, dedication and support of those involved, annually raises a considerable amount of money for the Douglas Bader Foundation. All the Regional Finals for THE BADER CUP have now been played and the last results have just arrived from Pitreavie Golf Club, Fife, Scotland where the final was held on the 1st September. Many congratulations to mother and son team, Maria and Cameron Giblin playing for Torphins who won with 45 points.

They will go on to meet Pamela and Howard Chamberlain (Pleasington) who won at Birchwood Golf Club on the 26th July; Karen Over and Kevin Nicholson (The Park) who won at Pontypridd Golf Club on the 28th July; Barbara King and Jack Marris (Whetstone) who won at Craythorne Golf Club on the 29th July; Gill and Andy Jones (Workington) who won at Darlington Golf Club on the 5th August; Kate and Denis Thompson (Bedale) who won at Pike Hills Golf Club on the 6th August; Janet and David James (Ashford) who won at North Downs Golf Club on the 10th August; Karen Ashcroft and John Jordan (Slinfold Park Golf and country Club) and Sue and Clive Richardson (Lewes) who won at Piltdown Golf Club on the 11th August; Lynne and Keith Sutton (Forest Pines) who won at Market Rasen & District Golf Club on the 16th August, Sandi and Chris Stott (Parkstone) who won at Stover Golf Club on the 19th August; Michelle Hawkins and Danny Adkins (Stock Brook Manor) who won at Ely City Golf Club on the 24th August and Robin and Richard Chapman (Muswell Hill) who won at Aldwickbury Park Golf Club, achieving a hole-in-one on the way, on the 25th August for the Grand Final in the Algarve, Portugal between November 7th – 11th to play for the prestigious BADER CUP.

Many congratulation to all the winning couples. We hope, win or lose, that you thoroughly enjoy your stay and your golf in the Algarve in November.

Introduction

The Douglas Bader Foundation is a charity organisation, formed in honour of Sir Douglas Bader in 1982 by family and friends, many of whom had flown side by side with Douglas during World War 2. Douglas was honoured in 1976 with a Knighthood for his contribution and work on behalf of the disabled. The mission of the foundation is to continue Douglas' work in conjunction with and on behalf of individuals with a disability. read more >

THE BADER CUP was started in 1987, and is now widely recognised as the largest National Mixed Greensome Stableford Golf Tournament in Europe.

John Southwick founded the Tournament to raise funds for The Douglas Bader Foundation. He still organises the competition.
