The Bader Cup – Latest Results: Stover Golf Club

THE BADER CUP is now recognised to be Europe’s largest National Mixed Golf Tournament and, thanks to the hard work, dedication and support of those involved, annually raises a considerable amount of money for the Douglas Bader Foundation. THE BADER CUP Regional Final was played at Stover Golf Club, Newton Abbot, on the 19th August and we now have these latest results.

Congratulations to Sandi and Chris Stott from Parkstone who won with 43 points and will join Lynne and Keith Sutton (Forest Pines); Janet and David James (Ashford – Kent); Karen Ashcroft and John Jordan (Slinfold Park Golf and Country Club); Sue and Clive Richardson (Lewes); Pamela and Howard Chamberlain (Pleasington); Karen Over and Kevin Nicholson (The Park) and Barbara King and Jack Marris (Whetstone) in the Algarve  to play for the prestigious Bader Cup in the Grand Final between November 7th – 11th.

Our thanks, as always, to the participating Golf Clubs for their support in staging the Regional Finals, to John Southwick for organising the Tournament and to our sponsors, The Tivoli Lagos Hotel, Monarch Airlines and Morgado do Reguengo for making it possible.

We hope that all who played but didn’t win this time enjoyed the competitions and will be back to try again next year.

Introduction

The Douglas Bader Foundation is a charity organisation, formed in honour of Sir Douglas Bader in 1982 by family and friends, many of whom had flown side by side with Douglas during World War 2. Douglas was honoured in 1976 with a Knighthood for his contribution and work on behalf of the disabled. The mission of the foundation is to continue Douglas' work in conjunction with and on behalf of individuals with a disability. read more >

THE BADER CUP was started in 1987, and is now widely recognised as the largest National Mixed Greensome Stableford Golf Tournament in Europe.

John Southwick founded the Tournament to raise funds for The Douglas Bader Foundation. He still organises the competition.
