The Bader Cup – Week 3 Results: North Downs & Piltdown Golf Clubs

The Bader Cup is now recognised to be Europe’s largest National Mixed Golf Tournament and, thanks to the hard work, dedication and support of those involved, annually raises a considerable amount of money for the Douglas Bader Foundation. For more information, please visit The Bader Cup Website. You will find a link on the Results Page.

The third week of the Bader Cup Regional Finals has been played and two more results are in from North Downs and Piltdown Golf Clubs played on the 10th and 11th August respectively.

Traditionally the Bader Cup gives two places to the Finals from the biggest field, particularly if there is a card play-off and, as this year that was Piltdown Golf Club, Sussex, 2 couples from that Regional Final will be going to the Algarve in November.

So – congratulations to Janet and David James (Ashford – Kent) who won at North Downs Golf Club, Surrey, with 43 points despite a rain-delayed start and some pretty atrocious playing conditions, and from Piltdown Golf Club, Sussex, the Piltdown 4; Karen Ashcroft and John Jordan (Slinfold Park Golf and Country Club) with 42 (21 back nine) points, and Sue and Clive Richardson (Lewes) with 42 (20 back nine) points. They will all join Pamela and Howard Chamberlain (Pleasington); Karen Over and Kevin Nicholson (The Park) and Barbara King and Jack Marris (Whetstone) in the Algarve  to play for the prestigious Bader Cup in the Grand Final between November 7th – 11th.

Our thanks, as always, to the Participating Golf Clubs for their support in staging the Regional Finals, to John Southwick for organising the Tournament and to our sponsors, The Tivoli Lagos HotelMonarch Airlines and Morgado do Reguengo for making it possible.

We hope that all who played but didn’t win this time enjoyed the competitions and will be back to try again next year.

N.B.: THE BADER CUP 2011: All this years regional finalists are handed an advanced entry form to complete and return to gain entry for the 2011 BADER CUP. And it is now possible to make the entry through The Bader Cup Website: www.thebadercup.co.uk
