Wanted – Volunteers for Counselling Information

Charlotte Warburton, a Counselling Psychologist in training at Roehampton University is undertaking a piece of qualitative research on the outcome of counselling for amputees. She would be very grateful to hear from anyone who might be willing to volunteer their experiences.

Are you an Amputee that has received counselling?

My name is Charlotte Warburton. I am a Counselling Psychologist in training at Roehampton University, London. I am currently undertaking an MSc research project and am interested in the experiences of amputees who have received counselling privately or through a service?

I am looking for participants that have received a completed course of counselling of at least one session to take part in a piece of qualitative research. The title of the research is:

Amputees’ Experiences of Counselling: An Interpretative Phenomenological analysis

Taking part in the research would involve a 45- 60 minute interview to explore your own experience of counselling. There will be also be a 15 minute debrief period for you to discuss your experience of being interviewed as well as to raise any concerns or questions you may have as a result of being interviewed. During the interview participants will be asked:

· Can you tell me about your experience of counselling in relation to the difficulties you have faced as an amputee?

· Please describe anything of particular value/importance to you about your counselling experience?

Please note: Due to ethical considerations I may not be able to interview people that have experienced amputation very recently (i.e. within the last two years).
